It's a lot of work but you could get a new motherboard.  Like physically putting it in, which you have to make sure its the right size and  fits in your case, then you'll have to install an Operating System, then install all the hardware and there drivers.  I would jus sell the whole thing and get a new computer.  You can get a very decent comp with say a P3 proccessor and 128 ram for cheap.  My friend bought one for 400 dollars(canadian) and he put more ram in it.  With the comp my freind bought you could run Acid, Soundforge, Reason, whatever easily.  Oh yeah and your computers speed is a combination of ram and the proccessor together.  If you understand what ram is and how a proccessor works you'd understand the relationship they have.
