hi

the main logic of subtractive EQ is that you are lowering the level of
conflicting and/or unwanted frequencies. Is not a "good engineer" technic,
but is in fact a good thing for mixing when you lack equipment or knowledge
on the practics of EQing.
Is not a exact formula to follow, and as addictive EQ, can lead to mistakes.
Try both and test the results; you have years of practicing in front of
you... =)
