Those are pictures. Source code, or developer assurance, or it didn't happen ( to badly bastardize a phrase that the kids these days use ).
I looked at the unbound source code. It prefetches when it's responding to a query, code in daemon/worker.c. The code is considerably complicated by defensive code to deal with the situation where the parent of the record to be prefetched has changed since the record was originally fetched. (Feel free to check my work.) That's probably worth mentioning in the I-D.
There is a separate option to prefetch DNSSEC key records.
