عتماد الكتابة اللاتينيّة للأعلام: البرامج،
اللغات البرمجيّة... (سأتبع نفس
هذه الخطة مع كل الملفات التي أترجمها)

This is against our policy:
http://www.arabeyes.org/download/documents/misc/doc_standards-en/proposals.html
"Product names should always be transliterated in Arabic characters. This is
regardless
of whether they are an acronym or an abbreviation."
Other then chinese or japanese, Arabs never use Latin chars when writing official
documentation, in any field.

نب العبارات الأجنبية المكتوبة بحروف عربيّة:

Many words like routine exist in modern Arabic so you have to be very careful here
it's like the قانون case, is it Arabic? no but it became so...
BUT for eg. a word like kernel would not be translated into كرنل, the whole
problem is very delicate when it coes to computer science so you have to be very
carefull here.

-----------------

hardware is very different from device, a laser scanner to scan code-bars is a device
but it isn't hardware,
or a TV in conjunction with a PC to surf in the net would be a device but not
hardware...
So you have to work more to understand the words. THis will lead automatically to
different words.
IMHO I don't agree with you that the words are very similar indeed they are in many
cases very different.

----------------

As I told you before we did the work you were proposing, and we have choosen the words
to use,
so in many cases revision is not needed.BUT sure there are new words or other where
there are
still inconstencies there we can use your database in conjunction with other
Databases.

-----------------

As said as a consequence I'm not in favour of a central database, this doesn't
concider our work
and it makes us shifting away from our central problem, which simply is translating
the DE,
to other things which ishabab are doing, I mean Qamoose or the wordlist are something
like your proposal...
Using Qamoose the full wrodlist the online dics and your database is ok, but, as said,
using the
databse as a central resource is not a good path. IMHO
------------------

As said again this is as we say in germany a "Binsenweisheit" which means without
concistency
we can skip the whole project my first goal is concictency!!! Or better it was and it
still is ;)
So this was from the start the most important thing and bil3aks introducing a new DB
will make us
start from scratch as a Maintainer I can't go this path.

------------------

Well the file yelp 2.4 I gave you, was directly from the gnome server so this is very
strange,
I'll ask the gnome about this it seems to be a bug...

-----------------

About translation credits that's as it seems an old translation bug, here you are right
as I told in my message about the status of gnome translation that many bugs are
present
and it seems that when others were working on it they didn't came to the idea of
writing their names...

----------------

Yes we write the names of all the contributors for now, as many old strings are still
present in the pos, this has to becleared with Elzubair as including name is very
crucial and is more a "proud" problem then a translation one...

---------------

As said no Database will be used, if you want to use it for yourself then ok. But not
as a principal resource.
Work on 2.2 was done and not relevant anymore as we are moving towards 2.4 and 2.6
the pos will be delated anyway so when the new pos are uploaded you'll have to work on
them.
 Simply forget about 2.2 now.

---------------

KDE and gnome are two different projects we translate differently but I am in favour
of this becasue
it shows the difference in the spirit of both of them. THe differences aren't really
big and the
majority are consistent in both DEs.

---------------

The english translation is included in the pos itself as you have:

msgid which is in english!!!
and msgstr in your language!!!
So why the whole pos another time?!!!

--------------

I never worked on KDE so I don't know what the link you gave me is...
For cvs checkout and everything related to CVS:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/tutorials/gnome-i18n/translator.html

--------------

Yes the cvs repository of Arabeyes is the same as gnome.
But we can't afford to have it up-todate as we don't have a script for this and it's
fool
to make this by hand every time...

-------------
I hope I answered your questions.

yours
Arafat
