Sorry, I've been meaning to weigh in on this, but the boss has been cracking the whip. Some nonsense about a garden... ;-)
I agree with the others that it is still relevant and useful, but agree that we may want to put in something for blogs and wikis. As for the first/second/third person discussion, my off-the-cuff personal opinion is that formal docs need to be third person, wikis can be second person, and blogs can be first person. But I'm not married to this opinion--it's just what feels natural to me. But yes, I think the OSG applies well to all doc categories, and teach some good technical writing skills. I certainly won't reject docs that don't adhere, but if the author asks, I will give what time I have available to helping them make their document more polished and professional.
