Ages back, we had some discussions about needing tools to create various images
for documentation. Among the tool requirements was doing things like layers,
for example.

GIMP has met a few of the needs, perhaps Inkscape has met a couple others.

I'm (a lurker) on a mailing list where they've been talking about XaraLX being
open-sourced, and just how good it is. Has anyone here gotten it to compile on
(Open)Solaris SPARC? (Open)Solaris x86? I'm interested in seeing if it works
(and meets the OS documentation needs), but I thought I'd ask about this before
reinventing the wheel, or finding out that someone's been pounding on it and
not getting anywhere. If it compiles and runs, I want to play with it to see
how well it works for OS documentation.

Thanks.

Rainer
