I don't know what you guys are talking about, unless you're
installing head units with the video system built into them.
I have never had to "hack" any kind of standard DIN head unit
into an Intrepid/Concorde/LHS.  

What is the model that you're working on that doesn't fit
(brand and model number)?

You can uses a generic din kit to instal it but you have to buy two and
stack them thats the cheapest and easiest way to do it
