Both my old pioneer and old Alpines needed the hack.
My current din and a half pioneer probably wouldn't
need the hack.  But that headunit was built
specifically for Chrysler and GM vehicles.  Plus since
it's din and a half it takes advantage of it's
verticality and doesn't need to be as deep.  But just
about any standard din sized headunit should have the
problem.

Perhaps it's specific to certain LH models.  I have a
95 Trep with climate control.  I can tell you mine
needed to be hacked for the din headunits.
