Almost always 6x9s in the back. To answer someone else's question, yes you need to take the rear seat out and take the rear deck off to get to them if you're planning on unscrewing them. The screws mount from the top, so I'm not sure what that other poster was suggesting by just cutting the wires for them. ?
BTW, it is very easy to take the seats and rear deck lid off. Lift up on the front of the rear seat bench, and pull it forward. Undo the seatbelt bolts behind it (sanding down the inside round area of these make for an excellent ground point for rear amps, BTW). Split-fold down seat or not you still need to take the side end pieces off to get the deck lid off. Bolts I believe (this is off the top of my head) are at the bottom, then they just lift straight up and out. Deck lid then pulls forward exposing the screws to the 6x9s (Philips) and all deck/speaker wiring. The wiring plug for the light for the trunk is located here, as well, in case you want to tap it to wire something cool instead of the boring white light (it's nice to sometimes put a switch in there, mounted to the bottom of the trunk dress-up kit, and be able to switch to the white light when you need it at night, and the other side for a neon bulb if you want to add some "pa-zazz" to the inside of the trunk). :) Cheers. -DP -----Original Message----- From: Pamela [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, January 31, 2005 6:38 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [dodge_intrepid] Re: stereo install I am curious on the speakers myself. I have a 2002 SE and just got me a new stereo finally /Blaulpunk? they offered a good deal on 2 front speakers which I got (not yet in due to a wire issue) BUT I still need some good ones for the back. I am still trying to find the size out. My son is going to install and he says he has to take the ones out of the back just to see the size. Is there a general size for the back? take care, Pam ----- Original Message ----- From: sam To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2005 3:53 PM Subject: [dodge_intrepid] Re: stereo install well guys i got my stereo fitting perfect with one DIN kit, i just messed around with the metal DIN thing and mounted it like 2cm out from the plastic on the kit and when i installed the radio it sat perfect, and it tilted up so i can actually see it now, Does anyone know what i need to do to replaced the 6x9s in the back? do i have to remove the seat!?
