I've taken the wiper assembly out several times due to
several rack swaps.  But if I were you I would call up
a junkyard and get a whole new assembly and just swap
em out.  I've never heard of this being a common
problem for us and I know mine has 144K on it with no
issues(knock on wood).  The junk yard swap
Just about every haynes and other type manual should
have the procedure to remove the motor and assembly.
