I am not annoyed by the shutdown, which is at over 112mph on mine.
Where I live, you'd be a total ranting idiot to do faster than that, and
deserving of incarceration so you could think about how you're
jeopardizing the lives of others; and if you don't have at least H-rated
tires and preferably higher, you'd be a total ranting idiot to do that
ANYPLACE because of how you jeopardize your OWN life.

I tested mine...on H-rated tires...in Montana. Nobody in sight.

By the way, all you who are driving at speeds around 100mph...have you
remembered to run your tire pressures 4 lbs. higher than what the door
sticker says? That's to stiffen the tire against high-speed flexure
when maintaining high speeds. In fact you are supposed to do that if
you are operating at over 75mph! Fail to do that, and you cut the
effective maximum safe speed of your tires as they flex and heat up.
Your H-rated rubber won't really be good for 130mph any more.

What has always REALLY annoyed me is the cruise control which will not
lock at speeds of over 85mph.

Incidentally the high-speed shutdown is not strictly a product of the
age of the engine-control computer. Starting in 1971 when Chrysler
introduced electronic ignitions, there was a limiter in the electronic
control box. It was intended to limit RPM to avoid engine damage,
though if someone wrongly substituted a Slant-Six control box in a V8
car ("they all look the same"), the V8 would rev-limit at only 75% of
the 6-cylinder's rated maximum RPM.
