When al Else fails ,, I take it out and open it up . The bezel should pop off the dash, This would leave 2 screws maybe 3 to get the whole unit out. I imagine you might consider a new aftermarket stereo. While you have yours out inspect the rear of the hole , see if there's a large plastic heater conduit right in the back of the hole near the bottom. If so Make sure to note this when ordering a install kit. You will need a kit that has a cd pocket under the radio cutout. Or just a special kit to raise the deck higher. My 94 trep is like this.With brut force and ignorance I made it fit. But the unit is tilted down towards the floor a bit. Some LHS models are the same. Allan
