This certainly sounds like a tricky one, and I suspect may end up
coming down to something small in the electrical system like a bad
ground or loose wiring in the ignition or surrounding systems...suspect
that there is some kind of raise in resistance in a circuit when it is
warm, and this is causing ignition problems.

Being that it's a '99, what are the OBD-II codes? If it's misfiring,
then it will throw a code for each cylinder that misfires. This could
help narrow down the location of where to look next.

Cheers.

Subject: Re: [dodge_intrepid] Hard Starting

I am the second owner of the car, the engine has been replaced once not
sure how many miles ago I have put 40,000 on it since I have owned it,
there is no unusall smoke when it starts. Oil is changed every 3k to 4k
miles and mostly interstate driven not much in town driving. It has had
the problem the whole 40k miles I have owned it and has done it in
winter and summer. It will happen if the car is driven 10 miles or 100
but not when it is driven a few blocks it seems like it must make it up
to full temp and stay a while. When I first took it to my mechanic he
hooked it up to his machine and said everything was fine. Then he
changed oil, fuel filter, air filter, new plugs and o2 sensor, next day
after driving it from work I took it there let it sit for 10 mins and he

hooked it all back up to computer and it acted up but found nothing
wrong. He did fuel pressure check then and was ok. He kept overnight
and ran tests again when it was cold everything was good. Car always
starts fine when hot or cold but not in between. Its turns over fine
and trys to start (fires) and then eventually it will mis like crazy and

then starighten out and run fine. The mechanic has not charged me a
dime for any of this so far, I have been going to him for my major work
for years. Dealer does routine maintence on this car and they have told

me 3 times there is nothing wrong with it.
