Most come as a feature on aftermarket alarms. I have
a Viper alarm(made by DEI) and really like it, the
remote start that is. The installer told me that
chryslers are tricky to install aftermarket alarms on.
So whatever unit I would go with I would make sure
your installer is familiar with chrysler cars and has
performed this procedure on them in the past. You can
buy the best alarm/remote start on the market, but if
your installer doesn't know what he's doing you'll
hate it. I have had a few problems with my alarm pop
up in the last few years. But I've had the alarm
since 98 so that's not really unexpected. If you plan
on keeping your car a long time like I tend to do ask
if your installer can spend a little extra time and
solder his connections instead of using butt
connectors. Just about all installers use butt
connectors instead of installing cause they are
quicker, easier, and can be removed easier. But what
I find is if you have the car for a long time those
butt connectors tend to be the source of electrical
problems later on. Not fires or anything liek that,
but stuff just doesn't work as well.
I never had a warranty to contend with so I can't help
you there. But remote starts are great! It was
really cool back in 98 cause so few people had them
that they would be amazed at the remote start feature.
Now-a-days they sure are a lot more common, but it
still doesn't deminish the coolness factor of the
feature.
Good luck,
Mike
