Years ago, I was considering rebuilding an automatic transmission; The cost if I did the removal and installation was about $1000. That seemed to be the going price.
Problem is, the best warranty any place around me would offer was 3 months, unlimited mileage. Whoop de doo. That is a 3,000 mile warranty for most folks. For $400 more I could get a remanufactured one from the dealership which had a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. That was awhile ago though.
