I'm not sure size is so important when we compare
Intrepid to Taurus, or Intrepid to Impala, etc. People
don't buy one because it's 2 inches longer.

You are mistaken, though, in your comparison of
engines. You say the Intrepid's 2.7 isn't in the same
league, but you're wrong. It has 200 HP, while the GM
3.8 has 205. Does a mere 5 horsepower put the LeSabre
in a different league? Of course not! They are
considered comparable, though I suspect the 3.8 has
somewhat more torque.

For that matter, even GM's 3.4 is a SMALLER engine
that Chrysler's 2.7 as it has only 180 HP vs 200 for
the 2.7

Cubic displacement might give my neighbor bragging
rights, but horsepower always wins. Don't be misled.
The 2.7 is very powerful
