Andrew,

I am one of the few, if ANY, happy 2.7 L Intrepid owners when it comes to
engine issues. My 2000 Intrepid 2.7L had, I believe, 174,000 miles on it
before the timing chain broke and I had to have the engine rebuilt due to it
being an interference motor. (And, yes, I said REBUILT.) It now has 245,000
miles on it.

I don't think the timing chain just broke. I think something else broke. The
reason I say that is b/c it appears that a piece of metal got stuck between the
crankshaft sprocket and timing chain, which caused the chain to break.

I will tell you that my biggest problem with my Intrepid is the coolant
reservoir tank. I have replaced it 3-4 times. It splits right at seam. I know
reasons why this happens and can recall only once that coolant was low.

Other than that, NO COMPLAINTS!
