On the subject of rigging systems: When I was based at Staverton airfield in the UK (Gloucestershire), a German gentleman turned up one day in an H36 which he had been flying round Europe.
He then got his rigging equipment out of the aircraft, folded the wings by himself (using his kit), and popped the aeroplane in the corner of our hangar. The whole exercise took him less than 15 minutes! I went back the next day to have a detailed look at what seemed to be a quite amazing design, but he had already gone. I seem to remember that the design included a couple of bottle jacks, and that the rest looked rather like a folding bicycle. He could probably have made a small fortune by publishing the design. The dvd supplied by Diamond on the HK 36 shows good pictures of the mechanism and its method of operation. I have a copy. The DVD is called the HK36 Motor Glider Extreme - Pilot Operating Handbook 320 mb. Probably too large to download. It may be available from Diamond. Otherwise I can make a copy and we can post it to Lasse. The mechanism is very well made but looks best usable on smooth floor areas and with room to rotate and swing back wings within the floor area. It probably would not be as suitable to fold wings outside on rough terrain and then move glider inside. Perhaps with ingenuity then this could be overcome. ie "all terrain" Larger wheels on the mechanism Regards Bob Balfour. Scouts HK 36 TC 100 VH - LBP. Sydney Australia.
