I just checked GFA AD 343 about slick magnetos. This is the only AD listed in
our form 2 pack about the magneto and only seems to mention 500 hour internal
examinations.
Could you let me know the number of the AD that requires 250 hour inspections?
We will certainly have to make sure it is included in the Dimona (and maybe
others) list of applicable AD's.
See...

Hi Rob

Magneto - An AD came out some years ago when
someone discovered there weren't very many magnetos in a Dimona. An internal
inspection is required every 250 hours.

Hi
Neville,
The cables fit through quite a thin
tube but with care you can get a drawstring through....we wrapped some thin but
strong string around a goodly length of the wire cable and wrapped it with
electrical tape. If anything more than minor resistance pull it back out and
try
and get it thinner.
Cut the cable, pull it out
then lay it out with the end on a screw attached to a piece of wood or some
thing solid. Swage one end of the new cable ...lay it out along side of the old
cable and use a marker pen at the other end to indicate where the swage will
ultimately go then feed it back in and swage when back
inside.
Replacing all cables so often is VERY
conservative but we found that the rudder pedal cables that go through some
sharp turns can, in fact need it.
    I thought the Slick
magneto was every 500 hours.. We haven't managed to get to 5
years.
cheers
Rob

Dimona

It seems that my recently imported H36, despite
having had an annual plus an export C of A (at a cost of 1700 euros) and
declared airworthy, is overdue for the two yearly strip/inspection of the Slick
magneto and also the ten yearly replacement of the rudder and tail wheel cables
- a bit disappointing!

Anyone done these jobs and can warn me of any
potential problems? Also could do with a foolproof method of attaching a
drawstring to the rudder cables before pulling them out.

Cheers,

Neville.
