Hi Rob,

Aero oils are a deffinate NO for Limbach engines.

The clearances and tollerances in Lycoming etc. are massive compared to Limbach
- automotive derived.

John.

I just have been reading about an oil additive called ZDDP which seems
to be a desirable anti wear zinc compound for our type of motors.
It wrecks catalytic converters and has become less useful in modern
motors so is being reduced in modern auto oils.
I'm think of switching to an aero oil (possibly shell

 )
        Has anyone got any recommendations?

Here is an interesting article on oil by the Rotax people.
I am wondering about using motorcycle oils if they are OK with
avgas.

                  Problems ??

I had a quick look at 3506's right wing yesterday and saw one
crooked fine crack approximately 20mm long.

Should I be more alarmed than usual ??

                  Cheers,

                  Tom

Of interest, have any of you had a problem with cracking on
the 90 degree corner just behind the aileron hinge ??

Where the hinge mounting plate attaches to the top skin ??

                    Best regards
