I would advise against using teflon tape as it can shed small bits which
might cause problems further along in the system. Permatex sells a product
called "lock and seal" which is intended for fuel and oil and serves as
both loctite and sealent. Maybe a bit of that if you have a bad female
thread on the manifold.
Also, we have a very small species of mud dauber wasp that will build a
nest up in the outlet, restricting outflow. I replaced my curtis drain
before I realized what had happened. I now have a plug as part of my
tiedown kit. Replacing valve is easy. Drain fuel. Install new ( pipe
thread, bronze to bronze, so don't overtorque ). Check for leaks.
