I flew with a $1.89 AH app on my phone and was very pleasantly surprised to find that it worked extremely well!
I threw the plane around a fair bit including some hard yawing and it stayed true. My phone is a nearly 5 year old Samsung Galaxy S9+ which has a gyro and accelerometer.
