I have one of the ones with a 120mm fan and charcoal filter and it works,
sort of...  You have to have it really close to the piece and I've found
myself blowing the smoke away more than having to readjust the fan closer.

ef=pd_cp_hi_0   I wouldn't buy it again.   The idea of using a 4" duct with
an exhaust fan sounds like a much better plan for less cost to me.
