That is awesome, I take it you're the wood-worker (I bet there is a more formal term you might call yourself, which I'm forgetting)? Is he giving any talks or public events while he's in town? Any chance for a dorkbot get-together? > and I need to upgrade my soldering equipment so we > will have something decent to use. I second the Aoyue 968A+.... I've had one for about 2 years and it works well. The only thing I don't like is the hot-air element heat-insulator was made of glass and vibration from the air pump caused this glass to crack, and in turn causes a rattling/buzzing if you use the air-pump (for solder fume evacuation or for hot-air). I tried (stupidly in hindsight) to goop that with silicone RTV gasket maker for engine blocks, but it smoked and turned into dust when I got the hot-air hot enough. Not sure what a better fix would be. (The glass insulator was just a cylinder of glass, like a guitar slide). Heck, maybe a /better/ (pyrex?) guitar slide would actually suffice: http://www.americanmusical.com/ItemImages/Large/p33545.jpg _______________________________________________ dorkbotpdx-blabber mailing list [email protected] http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/dorkbotpdx-blabber
