I've had really good luck with the sparkfun branded soldering station they
sell at URS. Not sure who the actual manufacturer is but it heats quickly,
has variable temp and has a pretty lightweight wand. I think it was around
$50 or so.

It says it's retired but I was just at URS last week and they have either
this model or the newer rev.
