In Kubuntu 11.10, which includes LibreOffice 3.4.3, the app starts in a touch over 10 secs on my dual-core AMD 64 bit machine (it's not fast by modern standards being several years old now). I don't have the QuickStarter running. According to the LibreOffice Help: Enable systray Quickstarter Mark this check box if you want LibreOffice to enable Quickstart. This option is available if the Quickstart module has been installed. Hope that helps. BTW.
