It is with great regret that I have to report that Chris Smithies lost his
battle with cancer at around midday yesterday. This outcome had been widely

Chris has been a regular at the Meetings for some time and was well known by
those who also attended. In addition to his career in software development,
Chris was also an accomplished musician and campanologist.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
This is sad news particularly at this time of year. I think I was only
in the present of Chris once but it is still a sad loss. My condolences
to his family
