Just got back from visiting family in Switzerland and also the German
Lace Congress (yearly visits). While away a friend put some pictures on
the Web for all to see and download. They also gave instructions but
not for Linux (as usual!).
The files are in HEIC (HEIF) format from Apple I-phones. I've checked
some instruction but they all date back to pre 2025 versions of Mint.
Details: I have installed the Mint 22.3 (latest updates) 64bit,
Cinnamon, Kernal=-generic.
on my laptop:-
heif-gdk-pixbuf 1.17.6-1ubuntu4.3
heif-thumbnailer 1.17.6-1ubuntu4.3
libheif-plugin-anmdec 1.17.6-1ubuntu4.3
libheif-plugin-libde256 1.17.6-1ubuntu4.3
lidheif1 1.17.6-1ubuntu4.3
These are all part of Mint listings for heif. Not sure if the aomdec
file is required as don't know what is is connected with.
Tried running with Digikam, Gimp and the installed viewer but none can
open the files. (file not recognised)
Any other help lease, It can't be impossible, but not sure next step.
I know it's a high density file from newer 'phones so must be 'fixed' by
now?
Thanks for any help as I've over 260 files to 'see' (or should I say
Lily needs to see).
