Lee, the FS4 (http://www.dproducts.be/Drake_Museum/fs-4.htm) was a crystal replacement box. You inserted it into a crystal socket. The output was in 500 kHz steps. Why would you want that in 500 or 100 Hz steps? It is not a VFO replacement, it is a band crystal replacement. > help from knowledgeable people.. Right now, you say the unit has "push > button" switching and doesn't use rotory switches. There are push-button switches with two buttons, and a dial readout, it looks like this: B N B Where B is a button, and N is a display showing the number. If you press the top button, the dial goes up one number, if you press the bottom button, it goes down one number. This could very well be used in a FS4 replica. The display only have to show the start frequency of each 500 kHz band. Myself, I would prefer rotary switches though...
