No it will not work on the TR-4. The reason being the heaters are wired in series-parallel and 6146’s have different heater current characteristics than 6JB6’s. I also can confirm Gary’s posting regarding Raytheon branded 6JB6A’s: they will not work as he indicated. I wonder if they are 6JB6’s at all. Back then tube manufacturers were known to engage in what we call today “outsourcing”. Some tubes, though being branded a certain way were actually manufactured by another. You used to be able to tell the source by a code on the envelope. I forgot how that worked. The bottom line is: don’t substitute sweep tube finals. It would also work on TR-4 Line. I wrote to him on 1/10/03. At that time his address was [EMAIL PROTECTED]. You might want to do a search under his name if site changed. The kit consisted of octal sockets and wire clip plate caps along with instructions and other parts. The conversion, if it works well should take care of all the problems sweeps can cause. Dan/N4VET
