"Jim Shorney" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang

OK, I've got this thing torn apart now. It doesn't quite look like the
descriptions given at
http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/PTO/Drake_PTO.htm. The problem
parts described there are brass-on-brass in the RV7 PTO in front of me. But
there is oily stuff all over the nylon gears, and dry lubricant-jam (like
toe-jam, but not as smelly) between the brass parts. The rattle was
definitely coming from where the brass bushing of the 100KHz dial interfaces
with the brass gear that fits over the hollow inner shaft. The nylon gears
were not binding and do not appear swollen.

The question is, are the brass-on-brass parts supposed to have some kind of
lubricant? I would think yes, but all the screaming about "don't lubricate
your PTO!" has me worried.

TIA,

-Jim
