Jim,
I have always lubed the brass parts otherwise they tend to " chatter " for
lack of a better word. You wont hurt anything. Its the 4 line nylon gears
that swell with oil applied. In fact I usually apply a small amount of oil
to the 7 Line brass PTO parts while the PTO is still assembled and that
seems to fix the problem of " binding " by softening the old dried out
grease. I don't tear down the PTO unless I have to.
