"Ron Baker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been following the discussion regarding eBay and the one seller in
particular. Probably enough has been said and the points well taken. For
the moment I want to step up on the soap box for the ebay sellers.

I will agree there are a few bad sellers but you will find a certain portion
of that in every part of business. I for one have been selling on eBay for
years, mostly refurbished Drake and Collins equipment. With over 400
pieces sold to my knowledge have never had a disappointed customer and I
still have 100% feedback. I also take care of my customers, promptly answer
their questions and offer any assistance they may need to setup and operate
their purchase.

To my point, there are a lot of very good ham radio equipment sellers on
eBay. I have also bought a lot of equipment off eBay and have learned to
hard way a few times who the bad guys are. I would not discourage anyone
from buying equipment off eBay. However, I would strongly suggest before
you make a purchase, know who your seller is, his background and previous
selling experience. Check the sellers feedback, read those comments
closely, the comments say a lot about the seller. Ask the seller a
question about the sale, how fast did the seller respond, did he directly
answer the question or give a vague answer or skip over it entirely. There
is a lot that can be determined by just communicating with the seller and
how the seller responds to your inquiry.

Not to labor the subject any further, I just wanted to say there are a lot
of very good sellers of ham equipment on eBay. You just need to be a
careful shopper, just like you would be buying at a hamfest. Don't be
afraid to kick the tires and ask questions and go with your gut feel. Most
of the time its probably correct.

Now stepping off the soap box ;o)
