Thanks Evan and to the others who have suggested what the product
might be. I'll get some and see what happens.
As for what this equipment goes thru.....I got to thinking that the
silent key who owned this, I didn't know that he smoked and I knew
him for many years. Got to thinking, his wife smokes! In the year
that he has been gone, his equipment has sat in a room that they
shared for their hobbies. Ham radio for him and quilting for
her. His shack used to be in the basement until about a year before
he died when he moved the smokey pieces upstairs. So in effect, the
smoke that's on the gear is from his wife's smoking habit over the
last couple of years.
The 11m equipment that is still in the basement doesn't smell at
all....other than the smoke from the linear amp on one side of the
bench and the vintage Siltronix 1011 on the other end but that's another story.
How many months to the next Drake forum at Dayton??

good ones! Except to take up smoking.... Got the 2nd hand smoke
thing in the office for years until smoking was banned in all public
places here in Ontario.

available in two sizes, one about 4-5 inches in diameter and 2
inches high and the other size about 4 inches high I believe. It
was in the household cleaning section of Meijer's, I believe near

isn't the orange (citrus) scented product that has a green
perforated/vented top, that is about 4" in diameter and 4"

Well, cleaning the smoker's grunge off the
exterior surfaces can be done with
mild cleaners designed SPECIFICALLY FOR PLASTICS AND DELICATE ITEMS, same
for
the insides. Still a smell will remain. One thing I have done
that worked
for me is to get some special odor absorbers at the store. I bought
one at
Meijer's here in Dayton, a grocery store and something like a K-Mart
combined, hi
hi. The product came in a blue and white "tub". It
was about 5" in diameter
and about 3-4" high. It smelled terrible. I took the
radio, put it into a
plastic bag, put the tub on top with a piece of newspaper between it and
the
radio. Left it there for two weeks, and it came out without any
smell. Not
sure if it would work for you, best of luck...
