of smoke is quite noticeable. A quick cleaning with a j-cloth and
water cleaned off a layer of dust and some of the easier to clean
yellowing.
Remove the top and bottom lids, apply lots of Windex with ammonia.
Be prepared to use a lot if the surfaces are coated heavily.
Remove tubes from upper deck, wipe surface with cotton cloth wetted
with Windex. get lots of cotton rags, preferably washed with no
fabric softener. I get cotton baby diapers and wash them a few times
with just a drop of soap and no fabric softener... once the fabric
is softened by agitation it is good to use on just about anything.
get lots of cloth as the grime will scratch the surfaces if you keep
using it. I use cotton baby diapers to cover my gear, especially
keyboards.
As to the underside of the radio, your best bet is to put it outside
and let the wind blow across it for a week. The ozone and oxygen in
the air will neutralize the odors pretty quickly. Obviously you'd
want to protect it from birds and nibbling squirrels.
