I, myself purchased a brand new R8 when they came out and then, contrary to opinion,... and because I'm a bit hardheaded, ..ordered the MS8. Well the opinions were right,...and it was not a very good speaker. I sent it back to Universal Radio for credit. An MS4 sounds much better and thats what I used for the time I owned mine. Even better for broadcast listening is a powered computer speaker. In addition, the internal speaker sounds pretty darn good. OK, having said all that, it would be nice, from a collector point of view, to have the infamous MS8 sitting next to the world beater R8 or its able successors the R8A and R8B. Hope you find one!! But if you do, use both the MS8 and the internal speaker together for best results.
