Hello Ken,
The blue glow is normal for a vr tube during warm up. As the rest of the
tubes come to life, the current in the vr tube is reduced. It should still
have a blue glow inside after warm up. If not, the vr tube is bad or
something in the radio is pulling too much current.

Boy I'm having fun with my new Drake! I worked 2 stations
in Serbia on 20m SSB (one was mobile), busting right through
a pileup on sunday afternoon. Love it!
Anyways, I noticed that V20 had a neon blue arc at the top
for 5-8 seconds when I first turned on the rig this morning.
Looking at the schematic V20 appears to be a voltage regulator.
I've got 2 questions:
1) Where can I get a replacement?
2) Should I leave my TR4 on from now on?
