Good Day All,
I guess the lack of ANY response(!) whatsoever to my most recent posting
(below) would indicate that some classic "... tinkering and experimenting" is
in the offing at VE3CUI...!
I've "padded up" the "C" in Heathkit QF-1 Q-multipliers in order to raise the
resonant frequency above 455-KHz, but I've never actually padded one down
before, to lower the frequency...it should be most interesting to see what it
might take to get it down to the R-4's 50-KHz IF...
If interested, stay tuned...!

Subject: R-4 Receiver Enhancement
Good Morning All,
I'm curious if anyone on this list has ever attempted to hook-up a
Q-multiplier to his/her Drake R-4 receiver, in order to enhance its
selectivity/sensitivity for weak signal CW reception...?
I have a spare Heathkit QF-1 here that I'm thinking of "padding" down to the
50-KHz IF of my old R-4.
Any comments, or real-world experiences in this regard?
My hands-on realities with Q-multipliers have been limited to IFs of 455-KHz,
and 725-KHz ONLY here --- in every application, however, the inclusion of a
Q-multiplier has proven to be well worth the effort involved...
But I've never had occasion to try one on an IF frequency as low as
50-KHz...until now, of course! Hi Hi.
Thanks in advance, & my vy
