It could be both Curt. I have two TR7s and a "mobile" TR7 cover that look black to me. However, I think Drake called it TR7 grey. The TR7 I bought brand new in 1979, has the so-called sticky paint as does the optional mobile cover I bought at the same time, they both look black. The "sticky" paint and the non-sticky paint look the same color black to me, just the texture is different. Having said that if you go shopping for cloths, something I rarely do anymore since I'm retired, or paint you'll find that there are many shades of black. I have a pair of black dress pants that do NOT go with any black shirt or jacket that I own because in the sun light the pants look dark brown. So call it what you want, black isn't just black anymore, and maybe it never was! :-) Steve w7jsc
