Well for a start, I don't have access to either an athlon or an smp box. Do things get any better if you boot up uniprocessor? We've got reports of tuxracer hanging elsewhere, so that's not a big suprise. How certain are you that you've got everything updated & built correctly? Every so often I seem to 'loose' dependency information and have to start from scratch, perhaps with a 'make World'. Are there any messags making it into /var/log/messages?
