Raise it as an issue. If others want it I do not have an issue with
someone submitting a patch for it.
I will say thought that "CLOB" makes far less sense as a name then
"BLOB" or "TEXT". The vendors of the day tied themselves to names they
already had embedded in their products. I do not feel that beholden to
them.
If we could get field working without the row[] bits, I would be very
tempted to just have a "STRING" type with collation and chuck
everything else.
I am starting to wonder about INT and if it should not be
INTEGER(size) and just drop all the types for it as well.
