It also seems to me that a "query" really is interrogative (questioning)
in nature, in which case I have a preference for "interrogazione".
Conversely, a "statement" really can be any kind of command and should
be a different term. I personally prefer "istruzione" or "comando" in
that order.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
