Jennifer Whitney commented on DS-651:
-------------------------------------

We would really benefit from bitstream-level information being available to
XSLT crosswalks. Our instance of DSpace must provide OAI-harvestable ETDMS
metadata for theses & dissertations. We're currently using a custom crosswalk
class to handle this, but would prefer to use the more lightweight XSLT
approach, if DIM provided enough information about an item's bitstreams to
generate ETDMS metadata.

> DIM just contains the metadata from metadatavalue, whereas some other
> item metainformation like its archival status (withdrawn or not), last
> modified etc. is kept in the item table. For dissemination it would be
> usefull to have access to this information. Including the handle as an
> attribute in dim:dim, would allow this.
