Mark Diggory commented on DS-1004:
----------------------------------

There was considerable dialog around the tombstone work in the dspace-tech list
with Jose'. We worked together to achieve a sensible solution. I thought the
work being discussed was an addon to his original solution, not a rejection of
his original work in favor of a different approach.

The final thread in dspace-tech concerning assisting Jose in finalizing his
work and architectural recommendations and decisions.

Now that I see this, it doesn't take the approach that Jose and I took where we
deal with tombstoning after the the handle has been evaluated and determined to
be protected. where tombstoning has to do with the outcome of an access
restriction event. And where the different results rendered can be determined
based on if you are (a) unauthenticated, (b) authenticated but unable to view
the item and (c) authenticated but able to view the withdrawn Item.

Clarify if it supports these cases prior to confirming the solution.

Is there an original dialog concerning the architectural decision making around
DS-1004?

Finally, this make it sound like the dialog between DCAT and Richard/MIT went
on outside the normal dspace public lists/IRC channel. I'm wary of this if it
is the case, I believe all dialog between DCAT and the Commiters/Developers
should be run in a public form such as dspace-dev.

> Companion to DS-587 - that is, a configurable tombstone 'reason'. The primary
> difference is that XMLUI never displayed a tombstone page at all,
> just the (erroneous) RestrictedItem page. This restores the parity between
> JSPUI and XMLUI
