Claudia Jürgen commented on DS-1289:
------------------------------------
As for the definition of well supported, this should be only the default
language "en". At the moment we only manage a part of the i18n related
resources at all, the basic message catalogues, and with regards to xmlui not
even that completely as the catalogue split into modules.
We got no way to validate i18n work and are far off a collaborative platform
to provide folks willing to translate an easy non-technical way to do it,
discuss etc It would be great to have all this, but with our limited resources
we should concentrate these on generally internationalizing and localizing
DSpace and provide good documentation on how to achieve multilingualism.

> If no languages are defined as supported languages, only the default language
> should be supported by the webui.
> In the xmlui (Mirage theme) all the languages from the language packs are
> provided. Just switch your browser to e.g. de and test demo.dspace.org
