Folks - We are using Dspace at the library I work at and it has worked reasonably well, but lately, it's been stopping a lot, and needing to be constantly rebooted (like more than daily). I am not sure what I did to cause the problem, so I would like to reinstall it, but I can't seem to find the instructions that I used to set up our server (a VM running in Virtual Box). I tried the instructions that started here: http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Install_Ubuntu but when it came time to run ant fresh_install, there was no directory that matches what the instructions talk about (/home/dspace/dspace-1.6.2-src-release/dspace/target/dspace-1.6.2-build.dir). Is there anywhere on the web a set of fool-proof instructions on how to install Dspace in Ubuntu server (I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1-server at the moment).
I have to tell you guys, if I can't get it to work, my boss is going to make us abandon Dspace in favor of software that we are going to have to pay for. I'm not a linux noob. Why is it so hard to install?
