That is not disabled as far as I know. I regularly build mysql+postgresql backends together (for testing purposes). I don't think the OP reported that multiple backends was the issue. But if something needs a change I was not aware of, I'll be glad to hear it (possibly off-list, as it's not really on-topic here).
