It is not a bug to require that the database backend be configured
correctly for its use. It is not a work-around to turn off
standard_conforming_strings in you database configuration. There is an
enhancement included in dspam 3.10.2 that will allow dspam to work with
both settings of the config parameter. I understand why Gentoo did not
mask the current 3.10.1 release because a misconfiguration is not a bug
and also why you are choosing to wait for the 3.10.2 release due to time
constraints.
