I can confirm to setup the correct dspam permission is kinda pain and such 
message as above usually origin from dspam get permission denied. However 
i've always believed that the history data was stored in the DB but i 
noticed that in fact this is not the case. This topic may have been posted 
but as reference this error will occur with a empty dspam log file as well. 
It easy to re-produce by doing ( in my case cd /var/spool/dspam/data) & cp 
*.log *.log.bak and run webgui. Maybe someone like to explain why dspam 
depending on a single file and not store it in postgreSQL/Mysql.
