I think it actually makes two to three tones - but I cannot confirm this
since I replaced my 800 with a 2820.

To avoid the problem of losing the received callsign when another local
station keys, I would take one more step - use the MW (Memory Write)
function to blow the new routing information into the VFO, where it would
stay until *you* change it.
